“She said, it is a great trend, but she still prefers cigarette pants for formal events and prefers shalwar for a comfortable whole-day look. She added, that this attire is not suitable for older women. However, the young girls can carry this attire for the whole day and night.”

Moreover, she added that age is the basic factor in wearing this attire, and older women should avoid it. The tall and slim girls are perfect for this attire.

She added, “I love seeing my daughter, Fatima, who’s twenty, in a farshi shalwar, but me? Not always.”

Also, she said, if you are on the curvy side or a short height, you should not opt for this farshi shalwar, as every trend is not for everyone.

This opinion or statement coming from Maria. B sparked the fuel for the debate among fashion experts about farshi shalwar. As many fashion experts agree on this, every fashion should be accessible and adaptable for all ages and all body types.

HYS, Pakistan’s leading fashion expert, shares his thoughts on farshi shalwar during his appearance on Nida Yasir’s show, The Shan e Suhoor.  

He said, “Everyone should get it stitched, as it comes from our cultural background. Women will love and enjoy wearing it without fearing for the showing of their body curves. Furthermore, Farshi shalwar gives them a modern and classy look with a traditional touch.”

He further explained that the farshi shalwar is not restricted to any body type. Everyone, who wants to wear this shalwar, should get it. 

He also suggests some wearing options for this. According to him, women can wear this shalwar with a knee-length shirt and longer cuts (chaaks). This will enhance their overall look and give them unique fashion attire. Additionally, even bulkier women can choose this shalwar for themselves with longer cuts. It is not strict that you should wear this shalwar with only an extremely short shirt. If you want to wear farshi shalwar, then style it for yourself according to your desire.

HSY also shared some fabric options for farshi shalwar as well. He said you do not have to buy expensive pure raw silk for this fashion. Simply, you can get it done with cotton or georgette fabric. These are affordable fabrics and a great alternative to pure raw silk.
